Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure butter is at room temperature for optimal mixing.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
Chocolate and decoration
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips Can be substituted with milk chocolate chips.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for dusting) Dust after the cookies have cooled.
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Colored sugar sprinkles or edible glitter For decoration.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until you achieve a smooth and fluffy texture.
  4. Add the eggs to the butter mixture one at a time, beating well after each addition to ensure everything is well incorporated.
  5. Gradually mix in the flour mixture until blended. Don’t overmix, as that can make the cookies tough.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips gently.
Baking
  1. Using a rounded tablespoon, drop the cookie dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each mound to allow for spreading.
  2. Bake for 9-11 minutes, watching for that perfect golden brown color.
  3. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 2 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
  4. Once cooled, dust the cookies with powdered sugar mixed with cinnamon for an extra festive touch.
  5. Get creative with decorations using colored sugar sprinkles or edible glitter to make these cookies truly shine.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature. They can also be frozen for up to three months.
