Ingredients

For the Cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans optional

For the Frosting

  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a sheet cake pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking soda.
  • In a saucepan, melt the butter, then mix in the buttermilk and bring it to a boil.
  • Pour the hot mixture into the dry ingredients and mix well.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla, and mix until smooth. Stir in the pecans if desired.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Frosting

  • Once the cake is cool, melt the butter and mix it with milk and vanilla.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix until smooth.

Serving

  • Frost the cooled cake with the prepared frosting.
  • Cut into squares and serve, optionally adding chopped pecans on top for extra crunch.

Notes

Make sure to measure your ingredients accurately for the best results. You can use a toothpick to check if the cake is done baking; it should come out clean. Let the cake cool completely before frosting to avoid melting the frosting.
