  • 2 medium medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced Use your favorite variety of apples.
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar Can be substituted with a sugar substitute if desired.
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon Adjust for more pronounced flavor.
For the custard
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups milk Whole or 2% milk recommended.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • a pinch salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cook until the apples soften and become fragrant.
Custard Mixing
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until combined and smooth.
Baking
  1. Layer the softened apples in individual serving cups or dishes, then pour the custard mixture over the top.
  2. Place the cups in the preheated oven and bake until the custard is just set, about 25-30 minutes.
