  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it is softened but not melted.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with whole wheat flour.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Feel free to mix with dark, white or peanut butter chips for variation.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until well combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.

Baking

  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week, or freeze for up to three months.
