Ingredients

For the hot dog burgers
  • 1 lb ground beef Choose ground beef with higher fat content for juiciness.
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded pepper jack cheese Substitute with spicy queso for a kick.
  • 6 slices cooked and crumbled bacon Using pre-cooked bacon saves time.
  • 6 pieces hot dogs
  • 6 pieces hot dog buns
For the batter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 piece egg
For frying
  • to taste Salt and pepper Season to taste.
  • as needed Oil for frying Heat oil to 350°F before frying.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, pepper jack cheese, and crumbled bacon. Season with salt and pepper, blending until all ingredients are mixed evenly.
  2. Divide the meat mixture into 6 equal sections. Carefully shape each portion around a hot dog until it’s fully coated.
Cooking
  1. Heat a grill or skillet to medium-high heat. Cook the hot dog burgers until browned on all sides and fully cooked through.
  2. In a shallow dish, whisk together the flour, milk, and egg until well combined.
  3. In a deep fryer or large pot, heat oil to 350°F.
  4. Dip each hot dog burger into the batter, allowing the excess to drip off before carefully placing them into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove the cooked hot dog burgers from the oil and set them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve them on hot dog buns with your favorite toppings.

Notes

For best results, monitor your oil temperature while frying. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or air fryer.
