Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's at room temperature
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs Use room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour Measure correctly
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt Reduce if using salted butter
  • 2 cups semisweet or dark chocolate chips

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.

Mixing

  • In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Finally, fold in the chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve the cookies warm with a cold glass of milk or enjoy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Keep the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for longer storage. Make sure your butter is soft for easy mixing and avoid over-mixing after adding flour to keep them soft.
