Main Ingredients

  • 3–4 lb beef brisket A flat-cut brisket is ideal for slow cooking.
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce

Preparation

  • Combine all dry spices and rub over the brisket.
  • Place brisket in the slow cooker and pour beef broth around it.

Cooking

  • Cover and cook on low for 8–10 hours or high for 5–6 hours.
  • Remove brisket, slice or shred.
  • Add BBQ sauce to slow cooker juices, return brisket, and toss to coat.

Notes

Let the brisket rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing to retain its juices. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
