  • 1 pound lean ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier version or substitute with ground turkey.
  • 1 oz packet taco seasoning Experiment with different seasonings for varied flavors.
  • 1/4 cup water or beef broth Use beef broth for a richer flavor.
  • 1 cup refried beans (optional) Warm in another pan if using.
  • 1 pack Flour tortillas Gluten-free tortillas can be used for dietary restrictions.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Your choice of cheese.
  • 1 cup sour cream (optional) Serve on the side.
  • 1 cup salsa (optional) Serve on the side.

Preparation

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add the taco seasoning and water (or beef broth) to the beef, stirring to combine. Cook until the mixture is thickened, about 5 minutes.
  • If using, warm the refried beans in another pan.
  • Lay out the flour tortillas and spread a layer of refried beans if using.
  • Spoon the beef mixture onto the tortillas and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  • Roll the tortillas tightly around the filling.

Serving

  • Serve with sour cream and salsa if desired.

Notes

You can pair with tortilla chips and guacamole for a snack or a green salad for brightness. Allow the burritos to sit for a few minutes after rolling before serving to let the flavors meld.
