Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder until well combined.
- In a separate mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until the mixture is smooth.
- Beat in the egg followed by the vanilla and almond extracts, mixing well.
- Gradually blend the dry ingredient mixture into the wet mixture until combined.
- Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place them onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Flatten each ball gently with the bottom of a glass.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until they turn golden.
- Allow the cookies to cool completely before decorating with royal icing.
Notes
Best enjoyed with milk or a warm beverage. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week, or freeze them for longer storage.
