  • 900 grams lean ground beef Ensure beef is drained well after cooking.
  • 1.6 kilograms green cabbage, cored and coarsely chopped
  • 200 grams uncooked long grain white rice Alternatively, you can use brown rice.
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add chopped onion and garlic to the beef; sauté until softened.
  • Stir in rice, tomato sauce, salt, pepper, paprika, and beef broth. Mix well.
  • In a large baking dish, layer half of the cabbage. Then add the beef mixture on top.
  • Cover with the remaining cabbage.
  • Bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender and the rice is fully cooked.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve with a side of crusty bread or a fresh garden salad. Consider adding a dollop of sour cream or fresh herbs for added flavor. This casserole can be refrigerated for up to five days or frozen for up to three months.
