Tart Base

  • 1 pre-made tart shell You can use a homemade tart shell if preferred.

Filling Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced Choose ripe, sweet strawberries for best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

For Serving

  • to taste Whipped cream For serving, can garnish with extra fresh strawberries.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). If using a homemade tart shell, bake until golden and let cool.
  • In a saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch. Add water and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens.
  • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and lemon juice.
  • Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then pour it over the sliced strawberries in the tart shell.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.

Serving

  • Cut the tart into slices and place each piece on a plate. Add a generous dollop of whipped cream on top or on the side. Garnish with extra fresh strawberries for an elegant touch.

Notes

If you have any leftover strawberry tart, wrap it with plastic wrap or place it in an airtight container. It is best consumed within 2-3 days for optimal taste and freshness. For a thicker filling, cook the cornstarch mixture longer until the desired consistency is reached. You can also sprinkle powdered sugar on top for decoration.
