  • 3-4 pieces Cinnamon sticks Add more for a stronger cinnamon flavor if desired.
  • 6-8 pieces Whole cloves Adjust based on preference.
  • 1 piece Star anise (optional) Provides extra warmth; can be omitted.
  • 1-2 pieces Fresh orange slices For a citrusy kick.
  • 1 cup Your choice of spirit (bourbon, rum, or brandy) Adds a kick; choose your favorite.
  • to taste none Sweetener (honey or maple syrup) Adjust sweetness to preference.

Preparation

  • In a large pot, pour the fresh apple cider. Add the cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, star anise (if using), and orange slices. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  • Allow your cider to simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, to let the spices release their flavors.
  • Once the flavors meld beautifully, remove the pot from the heat and stir in your chosen spirit.
  • Taste the cider and adjust the sweetness by stirring in honey or maple syrup to reach your desired flavor.
  • Strain the cider into mugs, discarding the solids, and garnish with additional orange slices or cinnamon sticks.
  • Serve warm and enjoy the cozy vibes with friends or family.

Notes

For a mocktail version, skip the alcohol and add more apple cider. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to three days, but it's best enjoyed fresh.
