Ingredients
  

For the cookies

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature) Ensure butter is at room temperature for better mixing.
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ cups brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk or semi-sweet chocolate chips Experiment with different types of chocolate.

For the topping

  • 10 oz mini marshmallows Melted for the spiderweb effect.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing in vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  • Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set. Allow them to cool on the sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Topping

  • For the spiderweb topping, melt mini marshmallows in a microwave-safe bowl. Stir until smooth.
  • Drizzle the melted marshmallows over each cookie to create the web effect. Allow to set before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, a glass of cold milk, or a warm cup of hot cocoa. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze with parchment paper in between layers.
