Ingredients
  

Fruit layer

  • 4 cups fresh or canned peaches, sliced Use ripe, fresh peaches for best flavor.
  • 1 cup sugar

Batter

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced peaches and 1 cup of sugar. If using canned peaches, drain the syrup first.
  • In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining sugar.
  • Add the milk and melted butter to the flour mixture. Stir until combined.
  • Pour the batter into a greased baking dish.
  • Carefully spoon the peach and sugar mixture over the batter. Do not stir.
  • Add the vanilla extract on top of the peaches.

Baking

  • Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Pairs well with coffee or sweet tea. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
