Ingredients
  

For the Cake

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup Coca Cola
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup miniature marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk Consider using chocolate buttermilk for richer flavor.

For the Frosting

  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 pound powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, Coca Cola, vegetable oil, eggs, marshmallows, and buttermilk. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Frosting Preparation

  • While the cake is baking, prepare the chocolate frosting. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  • Stir in the cocoa powder and allow to heat for 1 minute.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.

Serving

  • Once the cake is done, let it cool for a few minutes before spreading the chocolate frosting on top.
  • Cut into squares and serve. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

You can top the cake with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
