For the cookies

  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 cups salted sweet cream butter (softened) For the cookie dough
  • 0.5 cups sour cream
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 extra large eggs

For the frosting

  • 0.5 cups salted sweet cream butter (for frosting, softened)
  • 1 teaspoon clear vanilla flavoring
  • 2.25 cups powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons half and half Adjust for desired consistency
  • 2-3 drops pink gel food coloring Optional, for color

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
  • In a separate large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Add the sour cream, vanilla extract, and eggs, mixing until combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until just combined.

Baking

  • Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow to cool.

Frosting

  • Beat together the softened butter, clear vanilla, and powdered sugar.
  • Gradually add half and half until the desired consistency is reached.
  • Add food coloring and mix until combined.
  • Frost the cooled cookies and enjoy!

Notes

Use room-temperature ingredients for better mixing. Don’t overmix the dough; mix until just combined. Experiment with different flavors for the frosting or add sprinkles for extra fun!
