Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until everything is smoothly blended.
  5. Gradually add in the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined; be careful not to overmix.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 1 hour to help them maintain their shape while baking.
Baking
  1. Once chilled, scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each scoop.
  2. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  3. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  4. Decorate with festive icing and enjoy the holiday cheer!

Notes

For the best results, use room temperature butter. Adding a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg can enhance the flavor. Make sure your oven is properly preheated.
