  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth.
  • Beat in the vanilla and eggs until well combined.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.

Baking

  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are golden but the center remains soft.
  • Let cool on the sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For extra chewiness, underbake the cookies slightly. Use room temperature butter for the best texture. Consider using different types of chocolate chips for a unique twist.
