  • 4 pieces fresh habanero peppers (stemmed and chopped)
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Preparation

  • In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.
  • Add the chopped habanero peppers, apple cider vinegar, lime juice, smoked paprika, sea salt, and black pepper.
  • Simmer the mixture for about 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  • Blend the mixture until smooth, adding a bit of water if necessary for desired consistency.
  • Store in a jar and refrigerate. Use as a sauce or condiment.

Notes

Wear gloves when handling habaneros to avoid skin irritation. Taste the sauce as it simmers to adjust seasoning if necessary.
