Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Trim excess fat from the brisket if needed and season generously with salt and pepper.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and sear the brisket on all sides until browned.
  • In the same skillet, add sliced onions and minced garlic, sautéing until soft and translucent.
  • Transfer the brisket to a large roasting pan, pour in the beef broth, and add the sautéed onions and garlic along with your herbs.
  • Cover the pan tightly with a lid or aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven.

Cooking

  • Allow the brisket to cook slowly for approximately 3-4 hours, or until fork-tender.
  • Once cooked, remove from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
  • Serve with hearty sides such as mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables, and drizzle pan juices over the sliced meat.
