  • 3 sticks unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is at room temperature.
  • 3 cups granulated sugar Can substitute with brown sugar for a richer flavor.
  • 6 large eggs Add one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract Alternatives like almond or lemon extracts can also be used.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) and grease and flour a bundt pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add in the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, mixing until just combined.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth the top.

Baking

  • Bake for about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

This cake is delicious on its own but can be served with powdered sugar, whipped cream, or ice cream. You can add nuts, chocolate chips, or spices for variations. Proper storage extends freshness.
