Preparation

  • Choose a microwave-safe mug that holds at least 12 ounces.
  • In the mug, combine 4 tablespoons of all-purpose flour, 4 tablespoons of granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt. Mix thoroughly.
  • Add 3 tablespoons of milk and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil (or melted butter). Stir until the batter is smooth.
  • Add 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Fold gently into the batter.
  • Microwave on high for about 1 minute and 40 seconds, monitoring closely.
  • Allow the cake to cool for a minute before enjoying.

Notes

For best results, do not overmix the batter. Customize with chocolate chips, berries, or nut butter as desired. If you don’t have a microwave, bake in an oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes.
