Ingredients
  

For the biscuits

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk

For the gravy

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage Use good-quality sausage for best flavor.
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup flour For thickening the gravy.
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  • In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the melted butter and milk until just combined.
  • Pour the biscuit dough into a greased baking dish.

Making the gravy

  • In a skillet, cook the sausage until browned. Remove from heat and drain excess fat.
  • In the same skillet, make the gravy by whisking together 2 cups of milk and 1/4 cup of flour, cooking until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.

Baking

  • Pour the sausage and gravy mixture over the biscuits in the baking dish.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until biscuits are golden and cooked through.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat in the microwave or oven until heated through. Customize with spices or cheese for extra flavor.
