Ingredients
  

For the cookie dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is softened to room temperature for the best texture.
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Reduce if using salted butter.

For garnishing

  • 1 cup caramel bits
  • Sea salt for sprinkling

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugars together until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the caramel bits gently.

Baking

  • Scoop the dough onto baking sheets, leaving space between each scoop.
  • Sprinkle a little sea salt on top of each cookie dough ball.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Let the cookies cool on wire racks.

Notes

Keep cookies in an airtight container for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze them layered with parchment paper.
