- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, then form into patties.
- Heat the olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Cooking
- In the same skillet, add onions and mushrooms. Sauté until softened and fragrant.
- Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring to combine, and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Return the browned patties to the skillet, cover, and let cook in the simmering gravy for about 10 minutes.
Serving
- Serve the Salisbury Steak with the mushroom-onion gravy over mashed potatoes or rice.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. For longer storage, freeze patties and gravy for up to three months.
