Instructions

Prepare the Dough

  • In a large bowl, mix warm water with yeast. Allow the yeast to bloom for about 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Stir in the olive oil, flour, and salt. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour or until doubled in size.

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a cast-iron skillet, place it in the oven to heat up too.

Shape the Dough

  • Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a circle that fits the skillet. Be sure to leave edges for a crust.

Assemble the Pizza

  • Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven. Pour a little olive oil into the skillet, ensuring the bottom is well-coated.
  • Lay the dough in the skillet, pressing it up against the sides to create the crust.
  • Layer half of the shredded mozzarella on the dough, followed by distributing the chopped mozzarella sticks and pepperoni evenly. Top with the remaining mozzarella.
  • Sprinkle garlic, oregano, grated Parmesan, and add a pinch of salt and pepper for extra flavor.

Bake

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.

Garnish and Serve

  • Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and garnish with fresh basil if desired. Slice and serve hot.

Notes

For an extra crispy crust, pre-bake the crust for 5 minutes before adding toppings. Experiment with different cheeses for a unique twist.
