  • 3 ripe but firm pears, halved and cored Bosc or Bartlett pears work best.
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or melted butter For brushing the pears.
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup For drizzling.
  • 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese or gorgonzola Use high-quality for better flavor.
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, toasted Optional: Experiment with different nuts.
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary leaves Optional, for garnish.

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Line a baking dish with parchment paper.
  • Place pear halves cut side up in the dish.
  • Brush each pear lightly with olive oil or melted butter, and sprinkle with cinnamon.
  • Drizzle with honey or maple syrup and roast for 20–25 minutes until the pears are tender and lightly caramelized.
  • Remove from the oven and top each pear half with a small mound of blue cheese and chopped walnuts.
  • Return to the oven for 5 minutes, just until the cheese begins to soften and melt.
  • Garnish with fresh thyme or rosemary if desired and serve warm.

Notes

This dish can be served as an appetizer, side dish, or elegant dessert. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
