  • 200 g Dark chocolate (preferably 70% cocoa or more) Use high-quality dark chocolate for best flavor.
  • 1 cup Heavy whipping cream Can substitute with coconut cream for a dairy-free option.
  • 3 tbsp Sweetener of your choice (like erythritol or stevia) Adjust according to your sweetness preference.
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract Enhances the flavor.
  • a pinch Salt Optional; enhances the chocolate flavor.

Preparation

  • Start by breaking the dark chocolate into small pieces. Melt them gently in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals or over a water bath, stirring frequently until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, pour in the heavy whipping cream and whip it using an electric mixer until soft peaks start to form. If desired, add your sweetener and vanilla extract.
  • Once the chocolate has cooled slightly (it should not be hot), fold it gently into the whipped cream using a spatula. Be careful to maintain the airy texture.
  • Spoon the fluffy mixture into individual serving cups or a single large bowl and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the mousse to set.
  • Top with a sprinkle of cocoa powder, shaved dark chocolate, or fresh berries before serving.

Notes

Whip the cream to the right consistency; don't over-whip to avoid a grainy texture. The mousse can be made a day in advance for best results.
