  • teaspoons active dry yeast 1 packet
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • ½-¾ cup sugar Adjust to taste
  • ½ tablespoon salt Adds flavor
  • Vegetable oil for deep frying Vegetable oil Enough to fill pot 3 inches deep

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, salt, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Gradually add the flour to the yeast mixture, mixing thoroughly to achieve a smooth, elastic batter.
  3. Cover the bowl with a cloth or plastic wrap and place it in a warm spot. Let the dough rise for 1 to 2 hours until it doubles in size.
Frying

  3. Remove the puff puffs using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  4. Dust the warm puff puffs with table sugar or powdered sugar if desired.
