Main Ingredients

  • 1 package (3.4 oz) Instant pudding mix Any flavor you prefer (vanilla, chocolate, lemon, etc.)
  • 1 container (8 oz) Cool Whip Frozen whipped topping
  • 2 cups Milk Whole or 2% milk works best
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract Optional for added flavor

Optional Add-ins

  • As needed Cocoa powder If using vanilla pudding
  • As needed Food coloring For fun touches

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the instant pudding mix and milk until well combined. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to thicken.
  • Once the pudding has set up, gently fold in the Cool Whip using a spatula. Be gentle to maintain the fluffy texture.
  • If desired, add vanilla extract or any other extracts and fold until mixed thoroughly.
  • Cover the frosting and refrigerate for about 30 minutes to an hour to let the flavors meld together.
  • Once chilled, use the frosting as a topping for cakes, cupcakes, or even as a standalone dessert.

Notes

For presentation, pipe the frosting onto your baked goods with a piping bag. Add sprinkles, chocolate chips, or crushed cookies for decoration.
