Preparation

  • Place grated potatoes and onion in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out excess moisture.
  • In a bowl, combine the grated potatoes, onion, egg, flour, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the mixture into the skillet and flatten slightly.
  • Fry until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes on each side.
  • Drain on paper towels and serve warm, preferably with applesauce or sour cream.

Notes

To store leftovers, keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, place in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. For extra flavor, consider adding grated cheese or garlic.
