Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Filling Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, diced
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for filling)

Serving Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon sour cream (optional for serving)
  • Butter (for frying)

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, salt, egg, and water to form a dough. Knead the dough until it is smooth.
  • Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
  • While the dough is resting, combine the diced strawberries and 1/4 cup of sugar in a separate bowl.

Cooking

  • Roll out the dough and cut it into circles.
  • Place a small spoonful of the strawberry filling in the center of each circle.
  • Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges to seal them.
  • Boil the pierogi in salted water until they float.
  • Optionally, fry the boiled pierogi in butter until they turn golden brown.

Serving

  • Serve warm with sour cream if desired, or dust with powdered sugar or cinnamon.

Notes

Make sure to seal the dumplings well to prevent the filling from leaking during cooking. You can replace strawberries with other fruits for different flavors. Dust your work surface with flour to avoid sticking.
