Ingredients
  

For the Sandwich

  • 8 slices slices of bread
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for garlic butter)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup pepperoni slices
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Preparation

  • Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  • In a small bowl, mix softened butter with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
  • Spread the garlic butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  • On the non-buttered side of half the slices, layer mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and a spoonful of pizza sauce.
  • Top with another slice of bread, buttered side facing out.

Cooking

  • Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side, flipping once.
  • Remove from skillet, let cool slightly, slice, and serve with extra pizza sauce for dipping.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, skip the pepperoni and add extra vegetables like spinach, olives, or artichokes. You can also try adding different sauces, such as pesto or barbecue, to mix things up! Leftover sandwiches can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
