Ingredients
  

For the Sandwich
  • 4 slices slices of bread Use your favorite type of bread.
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce For spreading on the bread.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Can substitute for other cheese varieties.
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni Feel free to use turkey pepperoni.
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives Optional topping.
  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper Optional topping.
  • 2 tablespoons butter Use good-quality butter for best flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. On two of those slices, layer the shredded mozzarella cheese, followed by pepperoni, black olives, and green bell pepper.
  4. Place the remaining bread slices on top, sauce side down, to form your sandwiches.
  5. Butter the outside of each sandwich generously.
Cooking
  1. Place the sandwiches in the preheated skillet and cook, flipping after 3-4 minutes, until both sides are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  2. Remove from heat, slice, and serve warm with extra marinara sauce on the side for dipping if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat on a skillet over low heat for optimal texture.
