Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 can baked beans (400g)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese (cheddar or mozzarella) Can use cheddar or mozzarella based on preference.
  • 2 slices toast Use sourdough or whole-grain bread for added texture.
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano Can substitute with basil or thyme for a unique taste.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Open the can of baked beans and pour them into a saucepan. Stir in the tomato sauce and heat over medium heat until warmed through.
  3. Toast the bread slices until golden and crispy. Place them on a baking sheet or oven-safe dish.
Assembly
  1. Spoon the warm baked beans onto each slice of toast, spreading them evenly.
  2. Sprinkle grated cheese on top of the beans and place the toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  3. Remove from the oven and sprinkle dried oregano on top for that pizza-like flavor.
  4. Serve immediately while the cheese is still melty and the toast is crispy.

Notes

If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. When reheating, place them in the oven at a low temperature until warmed through. For longer storage, freeze the beans mixture separately and assemble the dish when ready to serve.
