Preparation
  1. Heat a grill pan or toaster for the bread, and a saucepan for the beans.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the canned beans with tomato sauce, garlic, and a pinch of salt over medium heat until warmed through.
  3. Drizzle olive oil on the bread and toast it in the grill pan until golden and crispy.
Assembly
  1. Spoon the warm beans onto each slice of toast, ensuring even coverage.
  2. Sprinkle shredded cheese generously over the beans, then place the toast under a broiler or in the pan for a minute or two until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  3. Remove the toast from the heat and garnish with fresh herbs.
