  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened Ensure the butter is at room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this to the creamed mixture, alternating with milk.
  • Pour the batter into a greased baking dish.

Baking

  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with a dollop of whipped cream and a handful of fresh berries. Pair with vanilla ice cream and drizzle with chocolate sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days or freeze individual portions for up to three months.
