  • 4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced Choose ripe peaches for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup sugar Divided into 1/2 cup for peaches and 1/2 cup for the batter.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cinnamon (optional, for topping) Sprinkle on top if desired.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix the sliced peaches with half of the sugar (1/2 cup). Let it sit for about 10 minutes.
  • In another bowl, combine the flour, remaining sugar (1/2 cup), baking powder, salt, and milk. Mix until just combined.

Assembly

  • Pour the melted butter into a baking dish.
  • Carefully pour the batter over the butter. Do not stir.
  • Spoon the peaches over the batter, spreading them evenly. If you'd like, sprinkle some cinnamon on top.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown.
  • Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
