  • 1 bunch Fresh asparagus Look for firm, bright green stalks.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil For roasting and added flavor.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced or sliced to enhance taste.
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese Freshly grated for a cheesy finish.
  • Salt Salt For seasoning.
  • To taste Black pepper For seasoning; add red pepper flakes for spice.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Rinse the asparagus under cold water and trim the woody ends.
  • Lay the asparagus out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Drizzle the olive oil over the asparagus, then add the minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Massage the seasoning into the stalks.
  • Sprinkle the grated Parmesan over the asparagus.

Cooking

  • Pop the baking sheet in the oven and roast for 12-15 minutes, until tender yet crunchy, with bubbly, slightly golden cheese.
  • Remove from the oven and squeeze a little lemon juice over the asparagus before serving.

Notes

Make sure not to overcrowd the baking sheet for proper roasting. You can substitute Parmesan with Pecorino cheese or nutritional yeast for a vegan option.
