  • 4 pieces russet potatoes Choose uniform-sized potatoes for even cooking.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Adds flavor and helps the skin crisp up.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 450°F.
  • Wash the potatoes and dry them with a paper towel.
  • Place each potato onto a sheet of aluminum foil.
  • Drizzle olive oil over each potato and use a basting brush to coat thoroughly.
  • Season with coarse salt and freshly ground pepper.
  • Wrap the potatoes in the foil, rolling and folding the ends in to seal.

Baking

  • Bake the potatoes for 45-60 minutes, depending on their size. They are done when a knife is easily inserted into the potato.

Serving

  • Serve topped with butter or your favorite baked potato toppings.
  • For a wholesome meal, pair with grilled chicken or a fresh salad.
  • Top with shredded cheese, crumbled bacon, or green onions for variety.

Notes

Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for 15-20 minutes. Cooked potatoes can also be frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
