Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound gnocchi (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 8 ounces burrata cheese, torn into pieces
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • Pour in the crushed tomatoes, stirring to combine. Allow the mixture to bubble for about 2 minutes.
  • Slowly add the heavy cream, stirring until fully incorporated. Season with basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.
  • Bring the sauce to a simmer. Add the gnocchi to the skillet and stir gently to coat in the sauce.
  • Cover and let the gnocchi simmer in the sauce for about 3-5 minutes or until cooked through and tender.
  • Gently fold in the pieces of burrata cheese, allowing it to warm and slightly melt into the sauce.
  • Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
  • Remove from heat, garnish with fresh basil leaves, and top with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

For a delightful dining experience, enjoy alongside a fresh arugula salad drizzled with lemon vinaigrette. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop with a splash of cream or broth to maintain its creamy texture.
