Ingredients
  

For the Cookies

  • 14 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened) Use room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • cups all-purpose flour Add a few extra tablespoons if needed.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt or sea salt
  • 3 cups chocolate chips Any variation of chocolate chips or chunks.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your baking sheets with parchment paper or spray them with non-stick spray.
  • Partially melt the butter by microwaving it halfway or placing it in a metal bowl in the preheating oven until it is half melted. Allow it to cool.
  • Beat the cooled butter with the granulated sugar and brown sugar until it becomes light and fluffy.
  • Mix in the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, until well combined.
  • Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix on low speed until just combined. If the dough seems too wet, add flour one tablespoon at a time (do not exceed three extra tablespoons).
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Scoop the dough onto the baking sheets—use 1/4 cup for large cookies and 1.5 tablespoons for medium ones—leaving space for them to spread. Press the dough slightly and add extra chocolate chips on top if desired.

Baking

  • Bake one tray at a time; large cookies need about 10-12 minutes, while small cookies bake for 8-9 minutes.
  • Let them cool on a wire rack.

Notes

Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature. To keep them fresh, they should stay soft and tasty for several days. For longer storage, freeze them in a freezer-safe bag or container.
