Olive Garden Alfredo Sauce

Ingredients
  

For the Sauce

  • 6 tablespoons salted butter
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1.25 cups heavy whipping cream Use freshly grated cheese for best flavor.
  • 1.5 cups whole milk Can substitute with low-fat milk, but it may not be as creamy.
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese (shredded)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

For the Pasta

  • 16 ounces fettuccine Cook per package directions.
  • to taste Fresh parsley (finely chopped) For garnish.

Preparation

  • Cook pasta per package directions, drain and set aside.

Cooking the Sauce

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add butter and let it melt.
  • Add minced garlic, garlic powder, and salt. Whisk together to combine.
  • Sprinkle the flour over the butter and garlic mixture. Whisk together and then slowly add the heavy cream and milk while whisking.
  • Let sauce begin to boil, then reduce heat to low and allow to simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add Parmesan cheese and whisk together until smooth.
  • Add the cooked and drained fettuccine. Use tongs to toss the pasta in the sauce.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve.

Notes

If you have any leftovers, let the sauce cool down, then place it in an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently, adding a splash of milk if needed. You can also add grilled chicken or shrimp for a heartier meal.
