  • 3 cups quick-cook oats Use quick-cooking oats for the best texture.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter Unsalted butter is recommended.
  • 2 cups sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1/2 cup milk Any type of milk can be used.
  • 1 cup peanut butter Can substitute with almond butter for variation.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla Use pure vanilla extract for best flavor.

Preparation

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the butter, sugar, milk, and salt.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil and let it boil for one minute.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the peanut butter and vanilla until it is smooth.
  • Add the oats to the mixture and mix well.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto wax paper and let them cool until set.

Notes

Store in an airtight container. Can be kept at room temperature for a few days or refrigerated for longer freshness. Layer with wax paper to prevent sticking.
