Method
Preparation
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder until well combined.
- Add the vanilla extract and gradually pour in the water, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough for a few minutes on a lightly floured surface until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Roll out the dough until it’s about 1/8 inch thick.
- Use a knife or cookie cutter to cut the dough into your desired shapes.
Cooking
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. It should be hot but not smoking.
- Carefully place the dough pieces into the hot oil and fry until they are golden brown on both sides.
- Remove the buns from the pan and drain them on a plate lined with paper towels.
Coating
- In a separate bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon. Toss the warm buns in the mixture to coat them evenly.
- Serve the buns warm and enjoy the delightful crunch!
Notes
Serve with a warm cup of hot chocolate or a fresh fruit salad. For longer preservation, freeze well-wrapped buns for up to a month.
