Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fettuccine noodles can swap with any pasta or rice noodles for gluten-free option
  • 1 pound ground beef can substitute with ground chicken for a lighter version
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic or garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 teaspoons ginger
  • 1-2 teaspoons red pepper flakes adjust spice level to taste
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch
  • 3 tablespoons water for mixing with corn starch
  • to taste none pepper
  • to taste none green onions for topping

Instructions
 

Cooking the Noodles

  • Cook the noodles according to package instructions and reserve 1 1/2 cups of pasta water.

Cooking the Beef

  • In a skillet, cook the ground beef until browned and drain the grease.
  • Add minced garlic and season with pepper.

Making the Sauce

  • Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, ginger, and red pepper flakes until combined. Heat on medium.
  • Mix corn starch with water until dissolved and add to the beef mixture, stirring until thickened.
  • Pour in reserved pasta water and bring to a boil, then lower heat and stir.

Combining the Dish

  • Add the cooked noodles and mix until everything is well coated in the sauce. This takes about 5 minutes.

Serving

  • Top with green onions and serve hot.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in microwave or on the stove. Can add mild vegetables like broccoli or bell peppers when cooking the beef.
