For the dough

  • 1 cup Butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature for best texture.
  • 1 cup Brown sugar Packed for best sweetness.
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar For added sweetness.
  • 1 large egg Egg For binding the ingredients.
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract To enhance flavor.
  • 2 1/4 cups All-purpose flour Base ingredient.
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder For rich chocolate flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda For leavening.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt To balance sweetness.
  • 1 box Instant chocolate pudding mix Key ingredient for texture.

Add-ins

  • 1 cup M&Ms Can substitute with chocolate chips for a different flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Stir the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, followed by the pudding mix, until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the M&Ms.
  • Use a cookie scoop to drop mounds of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set. Allow cookies to cool on the pan briefly before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For softer cookies, do not overbake. They will firm up as they cool. Allow dough to rest in the fridge for improved flavor and texture.
