Ingredients

For the coating
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp table salt
For the cereal mixture
  • 1/2 cup salted butter Can use unsalted butter for a less salty flavor.
  • 1 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 4 cups Cheerios cereal Can experiment with flavored varieties.

Method

Preparation
  1. Mix the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and table salt in a large bowl. Set aside.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the salted butter. Once it's completely melted, stir in the vanilla extract.
Mixing
  1. Pour the melted butter over the Cheerios cereal in a separate large bowl, mixing well until all the Cheerios are evenly coated.
  2. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the buttered Cheerios, tossing them to ensure every piece is well-coated.
Serving
  1. Let the mixture cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days or freeze for up to a month. For best results, let the butter be well-melted but not browned.
