Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's at room temperature.
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened Ensure it's at room temperature.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Additional sugar for sprinkling

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and cream cheese together until creamy and smooth using an electric mixer.
  4. Gradually add the sugar and continue to beat until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  5. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract, beating until everything is combined.
  6. Slowly fold the dry flour mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough and roll them into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
  8. Flatten each ball slightly using the bottom of a glass or your hand, then sprinkle a little sugar on top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges begin to turn a light golden color.
  2. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to three months. Ensure ingredients are at room temperature for best results.
