  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy.
  • Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped maraschino cherries.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

These cookies are best enjoyed warm right out of the oven. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Consider freezing for longer storage.
